This girl.
This silly, clown of a girl is the girl who lives and breathes and dreams art.
This is the girl who is constantly drawing, painting, and creating. While her sister takes piano lessons and plays soccer, she takes art lessons and still life painting classes.
This is the girl who sleeps with a pad of paper and pencil under her pillow because she always needs a place to put her ideas, and when she wakes up in the morning, more and more and more pages are filled with her drawings and doodles.
This is the girl who loves to watch shows about cake decorating and cooking. And who is so inspired by Project Runway that while the designers sketch their their dresses, she does, too:
—drawn by Wallie, age 5
And they are always accessorized with purses, heels, and, of course, bunnies.
This is the girl who makes hats. Colorful hats.
This is the girl who doesn't just want to help make dinner. She wants to make the dinner. She makes the baked potatoes and cuts the vegetables for the salad and, perched on her step stool, pounds and seasons the chicken breasts and slowly lowers them into the sizzling pan and knows exactly when to flip them.
This is the girl who, about once a week, opens her mouth wide, tosses her head back, and instructs me to check for loose teeth. (Nope, not yet.)
This is the girl who lets Auntie Kiki put eye shadow and sparkles and gloss on her because her sister isn't very girly and, shoot, someone needs to pick up the glitter slack around here. She's plenty girly enough for two.
This is the girl, the sweet, sweet girl who is turning 6 today.
And, despite the fact that she will soon be a big sister, she will always be my baby.
Happy birthday, Wallie. My tiny Bug.
I love you,
Mamma
xoxo
